Madinatul Ilm — Calgary
Quran Classes for Kids
Recitation, tajweed, and memorization — at a Shia Islamic Saturday school in southeast Calgary, for grades 1–12.
Madinatul Ilm School offers Quran classes for kids in Calgary as part of our Shia (Twelver / Ithna Ashari) Islamic Saturday school. Children begin with letters and their points of articulation, move on to correct recitation and tajweed, and grow into memorizing suras and understanding their meaning — each at their own level, from beginner to advanced.
Reading is only the beginning. As children advance they memorize (hifz) starting from Juz Amma, then Ayat al-Kursi and beyond, and learn the meanings behind the words, so recitation becomes a connection to the Quran rather than rote. Every level is welcome at the same time — a beginner sounding out letters and an older student refining tajweed each have a place — and we track each child’s progress so they move at the right pace.
